The first deputy mayor and acting mayor of Yerevan Mr. Kamo Areyan, visited Youth and Creativity Center #3 in Erebuni, being reconstructed with assistance of UNDP “De-Risking and Scaling-up Investment in Energy Efficient Building Retrofits” Project. Acting mayor was accompanied by UNDP representatives, the head of the Erebuni administrative district, as well as the municipality’s relevant responsibles.
The reconstruction of the center is close to commencement now. With UNDP assistance, full-scale seismic safety enhancing measures have been implemented, also the roof and the walls were insulated, energy-efficient windows and doors were installed, the heating system was fully changed using condensing boilers, and a new indoor and outdoor LED illumination system was introduced.
Thermal insulation measures will improve building’s energy performance by 50-60, which will also result in corresponding reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The saved money can be used for other needs of the center.
The “De-Risking and Scaling-up Investment in Energy Efficient Building Retrofits” Project (2017-2023) is being implemented by UNDP Armenia Office, funded by Green Climate Fund (GCF) and coordinated by the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia.
