13 April 2018

On 12 April, 2018 the Government of the Republic of Armenia approved Technical Regulation “On Energy Efficiency in Buildings”. It defines the requirements for the energy efficiency measures of newly constructed multi-apartment buildings, as well as the facilities being constructed, reconstructed and renovated via state funds.

The Technical Regulation was developed based on EU EPBD (Energy Performance in Buildings Directive) due to the initiative of the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia and with the technical and financial support provided by the UNDP-GEF “Improving Energy Efficiency in the Buildings” project.

The Regulation has been elaborated taking into account the climate, technical and demographic data, as well as the current state and perspectives of Armenian market of construction materials, civil works, energy carriers and energy services.

Due to the Technical Regulation, energy consumption in buildings will be significantly reduced, which will also lead to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, thus contributing to the climate change mitigation.
