Approaches and methods of socio-economic assessment of climate change impacts presented and discussed in the frame of UNDP-GCF NAP project

On May 20-22, "Approaches to Socio-Economic assessment of Climate Change Impacts” seminar took place in the frame of  UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project . The event was aimed at representatives of ministries of the key sectors, as well as scientific institutions with the objective to present and discuss approaches and methods of economic and financial evaluation of the climate risks and adaptation projects.


During the 3-day workshop, participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with climate change trends and forecasts in Armenia; existing and possible climate and climate related risks and vulnerabilities; key provisions of the National Adaptation Program and selected adaptation measures; current methods used for assessment; methods and approaches to assessing physical climate risks,  analyzing outcomes and planning state investment campaigns that take into account existing and forecasted climate data; and climate-economy models. Over practical works and interactive discussions participants got acquainted with the ways of applying the newly acquired knowledge in their day to day professional life and activities.


39 representatives of the Ministries of Environment; Economy; Territorial Administration and Infrastructure; Emergency Situations; Finance; and Health; American University in Armenia; Yerevan State University; RA Academy of Public Administration; Armenian State University of Economics; Crises Management State Academy of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations; State Agrarian University of Armenia and UNDP attended the seminar and received certificates.
