Draft 2023-2025 action plan aimed at mitigating gender and social impacts of climate change in Armenia presented and discussed in the frame of the UNDP-GCF NAP project

Draft version of "Climate change gender and social impacts mitigation plan for 2023-2025 and the respective list of measures” was presented and discussed with stakeholders during the "Framework Discussion on Mitigation of Gender and Social Impacts of Climate Change" workshop. The draft plan was developed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia with the support of the UNDP-GCF "Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan” (NAP) project.


The workshop, organized by the joint efforts of the Ministries of Labour and Social Affairs and Environment as well as UNDP-GCF NAP project, targeted members of the working group of the Council on Women's Affairs chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, members of working groups of Inter-Agency Coordinating Council on the implementation of requirements and provisions of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement” as well as representatives of interested ministries and state bodies. It aimed to discuss the possibilities of reducing and preventing gender and social impacts of climate change, as well as collecting proposals and comments on the draft action plan.


UNDP Climate Change Program Coordinator Diana Harutyunyan, Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan and Head of the Equal Opportunities Department of the RA Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs Kristina Hovhannisyan delivered opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of assessing gender and social impacts of climate change, and identifying and implementing relevant measures aimed at lessening those.
