Inception workshop for a new project on climate-related loss & damage management in Armenia

Alt

An inception workshop for the project "Development of Technical Guides on Risk Assessment for Elaboration of Management Approaches for Responding to Loss and Damage" took place on December 23, 2024. The event brought together key stakeholders to outline the project’s objectives, planned activities, and initial methodologies to be used by the consortium of consulting companies “Pegasys Limited” (Great Britain) and “Alfa Partners” (Armenia).

Implemented by UNDP with the support of the NDC Partnership, this project will contribute to the National Adaptation Planning in Armenia and build on previous vulnerability assessments conducted across targeted sectors. It aims to address critical gaps in scientifically grounded risk assessment techniques and capacities in the country, drawing insights from international initiatives like the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage and the Santiago Network.

The project will develop technical guides for climate risk assessment in two priority sectors and propose practical approaches to mitigating loss and damage, including frameworks for funding, modalities, and implementation partners. These activities will complement the development of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP-2) for 2026-2030, contributing to increased resilience to climate-related risks.
