Results of the farm survey for the assessment of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from manure and land management practices in Armenia were presented and discussed with stakeholders during a workshop held on March 27, in the frame of “Building Armenia’s National Transparency Framework under Paris Agreement” (CBIT) UNDP-GEF Project.

The survey was implemented by “Civitta AM” organization selected through a tender process. The main objective was to collect up-to-date information on manure management procedures implemented in Armenia on a national level, gather detailed activity data to identify emissions factors specific to the country, clarify existing gaps and issues, and to propose measures aimed at improving primary data on GHG emissions from manure management and nitrogen fertilizer use practices based on discussion with industry experts.

In her welcoming speech UNDP Climate Change Programme Coordinator Diana Harutyunyan emphasized the importance of implementing sustainable practices of manure management and nitrogen fertilizer use for accurate assessment of GHG emissions, involvement of appropriate climate change mitigation programs in the sector, as well as the assessment of negative impact on the environment and the integration of applicable solutions to reduce it.

33 representatives of Ministries of Environment; Economy; and Territorial Administration and Infrastructure; Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center SNCO; Armenian National Agrarian University; CARD NGO; ADA; GIZ; Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund; Shen NGO; Khazer NGO; Covenant of mayors East project: Civitta AM and UNDP attended the event.
