On July 22, during a workshop organized in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project, the draft of the “Strategic approaches for national communication and outreach on climate change adaptation awareness and the national adaptation planning process” and the list of proposed measures were presented and discussed with the stakeholders.
Development of the strategic approaches for national communication and outreach on climate change adaptation awareness and the national adaptation planning process is envisaged by the RA Government decree N 749-L, dated May 13, 2021.
RA Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan and UNDP Climate Change Program Coordinator Diana Harutyunyan delivered opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of public awareness on climate change and adaptation related issues at the national, regional and local levels and the need for coordinated participation of other governmental bodies in these processes in addition to the Ministry of Environment.
Over 20 representatives from the RA Ministries of Environment, Emergency situations and Education, Science, Culture and Sports, “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center” SNCO, Public Services Regulatory Commission, RA Statistical Committee, UNDP, CIVITTA Armenia, Doping Creative Agency attended and participated online.
