"Integrating Climate Change Adaptation into Regional and Community Development Strategies" training series have been launched in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project.

Trainings, implemented by the Public Administration Academy of the Republic of Armenia, aim at increasing the awareness of decision-makers in territorial administration, local self-government bodies and the private sector on vulnerabilities, risks and adaptation opportunities in Armenia in the context of climate change, as well as build their capacity for climate change adaptation planning. 

Over the course of November –December, it is planned to organize trainings for at least 150 participants from all marzes, including civil servants from Regional Administrations, heads of communities, members of councils of elders, community servants, representatives of the private sector, etc.

Trainings have already started. On November 3 and 4, two 6-academic-hour sessions were held in Shirak and Lori marzes, organized by Public Administration Academy of the Republic of Armenia in close cooperation with the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure. Participants got acquainted with climate change impacts, existing and predicted climate risks and vulnerabilities in Armenia; results of climate risks vulnerability assessments  in agriculture, water resources and tourism sectors; climate change adaptation planning at the community level; practices of integrating climate change adaptation in regional (provincial) development strategies; etc. Respectively 19 participants in Shirak and 16 in Lori attended the sessions.

Similar training sessions will be organized in the remaining 8 marzes.
