During a workshop held on November 28, at the Takhtajan Institute of Botany of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences SNCO, a draft version of "Improvement and optimization of green urban spaces in Armenia in the context of projected climate changes” guideline was presented and discussed with the stakeholders. The guideline has been developed by the Institute of Botany SNCO in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project and aims to contribute to the improvement of urban green infrastructure management and the application of new practices, taking into account the current and projected climate change.

In the frame of completed works green infrastructures of Yerevan, Gyumri and Vanadzor cities, including types of planted trees and shrubs, as well as possibilities of their adaptation to predicted climate changes were analyzed. Once finalized the analysis will as well be used in the adaptation plan of Yerevan city currently being developed in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan project.

24 representatives of the Ministries of Environment and Territorial Administration and Infrastructure; Yerevan and Gyumri Municipalities; Armenian National Agrarian University; “Armenia Tree Project” NGO; Institute of Botany of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences SNCO and UNDP participated in the event.
