One of the main impacts of climate change has on mountainous countries is the increase of landslide risk. Landslides endanger the safety of population and as well as threaten security of infrastructures, including buildings, roads, gas supply pipes, electricity lines, etc., and hinder proper utilization of agricultural lands.
In this context, actions aimed at reducing the risks of climate induced natural hazards and increasing the adaptation capacity of population are key to avoid catastrophic consequences.
This handbook, developed in the frame of the UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan project, summarizes the impact of climate change on landslides and the possible measures aimed at managing the risk of landslides in communities.
