23rd Session of the Conference of the Parties Took Place

The UN Climate Change Conference/ the 23rd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 23)/ was convened from 6-17 November 2017 in Bonn, Germany under the Presidency of Fiji collaborating with the Government of Germany.


The UN Climate Change Conference brought together over 16,000 participants, including over 9,200 government officials, 5,500 representatives of UN bodies and agencies, intergovernmental organizations and civil society organizations, and 1,200 members of the media. The main purposes of the Conference were to evaluate the progress made on implementation of the provisions under the Paris Agreement and to adopt decisions to keep a global temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius per the Agreement. In this context, Parties emphasized the importance of the processes ensuring financial resources for adaptation actions, by identifying the formal tools needed to enable the continuing existence of the Adaptation Fund.


Per the agenda of Subsidiary Body for Implementation, Armenia along with 4 other Parties participated in the workshop of the facilitative sharing of views under the international consultation and analysis. In the workshop UNDP Climate Change Program Coordinator Diana Harutyunyan made a presentation on Armenia’s First Biennial Update Report.


At the Conference the high-level segment was held, during which Mr. Erik Grigoryan, the RA First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection, delivered a national statement.


The outcomes of COP23 were represented at a press conference at ARMENPRESS media hall.
