Background

Over the years, the EU Sustainable Energy Awards have attracted citizen-led sustainable energy-awareness programmes, public schemes promoting energy-saving buildings and private firms leading the way in green tech, carbon-neutral manufacturing, and much more.
In the context of the European Green Deal and the new framework of the Eastern Partnership, the European Union has launched the second edition of the EU Sustainable Energy Award for the Eastern Partnership. The award is part of the European Union Sustainable Energy Week 2020 (22-26 June).

Aim

The EUSEW Award aims at championing inspiring sustainable energy initiatives in the six Eastern partner countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine. Finalists will be chosen from a shortlist of the year’s most successful projects for clean, secure and efficient energy.
The objectives of the Sustainable Energy Award are to:

  1. Recognise outstanding innovation in energy efficiency and renewables in Eastern Partner countries;
  2. Highlight the concrete impact of the EU support on the ground;
  3. Provide a role model to inspire others for best practice and experiences in all Eastern Partner countries.

Who can apply?

A wide range of initiatives can apply for a EUSEW Award. Applications are open to citizens, businesses, governmental institutions, local authorities, civil society organisations, and youth organisations from one or several Eastern partner countries listed above.
A key requirement is that applicants have benefitted from EU support for their energy efficiency or renewable energy project - directly or indirectly.
