Alaverdi, 23 June 2023 - The summary event of the "My Green Alaverdi" youth idea competition, organized as part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week, took place at the "Green Camp" in Poqr Ayrum village, Alaverdi community.

On 3rd of February in the frames of UNDP “Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia” project a thematic meeting on "Parliamentary Action on Climate Change" was held in the National Assembly of Armenia, with the participation of NA parliamentarians and members of Committees, and representatives from the Ministry of Environment and United Nations Development Programme in Armenia.
On November 29-30, the joint regional conference of "Covenant of Mayors" and the "EU4Climate" EU-UNDP project was held in Tbilisi, Georgia, to mark the 10th anniversary of the EU Covenant of Mayors in the Eastern Partnership region.

On 26 May a national workshop was held to discuss the preliminary findings of the study “Development of NDC Financing Strategy and Investment Plan”, carried out under “EU4Climate” project, that is funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP in Armenia.

For the celebration of World Environment Day 2022, an event in the context of #OnlyOneEarth global campaign, aiming to call for collective, transformative actions to protect and restore our planet, has been organized under the “EU4Climate” project.
On 11-12 May, the workshop on “Roadmap for the development of a functional National Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory System” took place within “EU4Climate” project, that gathered together around 80 participants, including representatives of EaP countries’ governments, Environment Agency Austria (EAA), DG NEAR and DG CLIMA, UNDP, as well as practitioners and experts of the field.
On 21 December, as part of a national workshop, the draft National Program on Energy Saving and Renewable Energy for 2022-2030, developed under the “EU4Climate” EU-UNDP regional project, was presented and discussed with stakeholders.
Within the EU4Climate project, a study was developed on “NDCs preparation and implementation in Eastern Partnership countries” about the national pledges of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine under the Paris Agreement.
On October 14, the summary of findings and recommendations proposed during the series of seminars titled “The role of private sector in implementation of Armenia’s NDC Partnership Plan” were presented to the representatives of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, Ministry of Environment and implementing donor organizations.
On 29 September, a wide spectrum of issues related to the regulatory framework for promoting green finance practices and increasing internal capacities of intermediary financial institutions were discussed during the seminar with the participation of leading banks, non-banking financial institutions, investment funds and business angel networks, organized by UNDP Armenia.

A wide range of issues related to the policy enabling environment, favorable financial instruments and technological advancement necessary to boost development of the “new energy” sector of Armenia were discussed during the seminar with the participation of state agencies, private sector and independent experts organized by the support of UNDP Armenia and funding of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Government of Germany (BMZ).
On July 23, a national workshop was held on the results of the assessment of potential for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from agriculture, which is part of Armenia's long-term low-emissions development strategy.

On 30 April, the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia presented its updated national climate pledge to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), marking its renewed commitment for the period of 2021-2030 to the landmark Paris Agreement, by which world leaders universally agreed to advance climate actions to limit temperature rise to well below 2 degrees Celsius, while pursuing efforts to limit to a safer 1.5 degrees.
Today the Government of the Republic of Armenia approved Armenia’s updated 2021-2030 Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) under Paris Agreement. For the development of the document, the Ministry of Environment received support in the frames of EU4Climate project, that is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme.
Nationally determined contributions (NDCs) are at the heart of the Paris Agreement and embody efforts by each country towards lowering greenhouse gas emissions, pursuing domestic climate change mitigation and adaptation measures and fostering climate resilience.
On April 19, a national workshop on NDC Partnership Plan of the Republic of Armenia was held with the participation of over 60 representatives from the government, civil society and international donors.
The two-day workshop focused on integrating disaster resilience and natural hazard management into the National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and actions on sub-national level, like urban adaptation.

Armenia is committed to update country’s (NDC) by 2020 in response to the growing impacts and mitigating risks of climate change with the ultimate goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions under the UNFCCC and according to Paris Agreement.
Nowadays climate change has emerged as one of the most alarming issues around the world.
From 18-19 November, Armenia together with other Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries met in Tbilisi to discuss their progress in mitigation and adaptation against climate change in line with policies of reducing greenhouse gas emissions set in their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
Climate change has emerged as one of the most important challenges that the humanity faces in the 21st century, the impacts of which are being felt everywhere with very real and direct consequences on people’s lives, ranging from natural disasters to significant economic losses and public health problems.
In the period of 15-17 October 2019, the Republic of Armenia is participating in the “Regional Workshop on Long-Term Low Emissions Development Strategies and the Mainstreaming of Climate Policies” within the framework of EU4Climate project, being held at Chisinau, Republic of Moldova.
