On 15 May 2023, the leaders of the project "Strengthened Community Resilience through Energy Efficiency and Low Emission Development" implemented by the UNDP-Sida program were hosted in the Alaverdi community of Lori marz.

 

During the meeting with Alaverdi Mayor Arkady Tamazyan, the Project Manager and Expert of Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency (Sida) Jonas Bergstrom emphasized the role and implementation of the energy saving program in Alaverdi community.

 

The Head of the Alaverdi community also stressed the importance of actions aimed at energy efficiency within the framework of the Project for both the population and the development of the community. The upcoming actions and expected results were discussed.

 

Diana Harutyunyan, the Coordinator of UNDP Climate Change Programme, shared the current and expected results of the Project with the attendees.

 

The Head of UNDP Climate Change, Environment and Resilience Portfolio, Hovhannes Ghazaryan, UNDP Expert, Andre Ohanyan and the Team lead of  UNDP-Sida project, Aregnazan Martirosyan also took part in the meeting.

 

The representatives also visited the multi-apartment buildings of Alaverdi Sanahin-Sarahart district that were partially and fully thermo-insulated within the framework of the Project to familiarize themselves with the results.

 

At Alaverdi State Vocational College the guests also attended the presentation prepared by the students and learned about the educational program of the school. 

 

As a result of "Strengthened Community Resilience through Energy Efficiency and Low Emission Development" project, 10 multi-apartment buildings of Alaverdi community will be partially insulated, the Kindergarten No. 6 will be reconstructed and fully insulated, and "Energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies" subject will be introduced in Alaverdi Vocational School curriculum as a new professional direction. The Project is financed by the Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency.
