The results of the “Development of Armenia’s Fourth National Communication to the UNFCCC and Second Biennial Update Report” UNDP-GEF Project were presented at the Meeting of the Inter-agency Coordinating Council on Climate Change, conducted on March 20, 2018. The Council, which is also acting as the Project Steering Committee, was chaired by Mr. Artsvik Minasyan, Minister of Nature Protection of RA, Council Chairperson. The UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Mr. Dmitry Mariyasin also attended the meeting. Diana Harutyunyan, UNDP Climate Change Program Coordinator, presented the achievements of the “Development of Armenia’s Fourth National Communication to the UNFCCC and Second Biennial Update Report” Project. She highlighted the progress of the Project and results of the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report and the Second Biennial Update Report. Diana Harutyunyan also presented the Project future workplan.
The following issues were also presented at the meeting: (i) Armenia’s commitments under the Paris Agreement and cooperation framework with European Union; (ii) Implementation process of the RA Government Protocol Decree N49-8 “On Approval of the of Activities by the Republic of Armenia for Implementation of the Obligations Emanated from a Number of International Environmental Conventions Ratified by the Republic of Armenia; (iii) Initiatives of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection under Green Climate Fund financial mechanism.
