By the decision of the Government, amendments were made to the RA Government decision N 1886-L on "The Strategy of the Main Directions Ensuring Economic Development in Agricultural Sector of the Republic of Armenia for 2020-2030 and the 2020-2022 Action Plan and Schedule for the Implementation of the Strategy of the Main Directions Ensuring Economic Development in Agricultural Sector of the Republic of Armenia for 2020-2030".

The final workshop and Project Board of the UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan project (NAP) took place on December 20. During the event, results and main achievements of the Project were presented and discussed with the stakeholders.

"Presentation of results of the climate risk and vulnerability assessment of the RA health sector and the draft of sectoral adaptation plan” workshop was held on August 26-27. The event was organized in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project with close cooperation with RA Ministry of Health.

On August 30, a workshop took place on the results of the assessment of the potential for application of incentive mechanisms for double (secondary) water use in Armenia.

“Presentation and discussion of Climate and related natural hazards and risks atlas” workshop took place on August 15.

On July 22, during a workshop organized in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project, the draft of the “Strategic ap­pro­aches for national com­mu­ni­cation and outreach on cli­ma­te change adap­tation aware­ness and the national adaptation planning pro­cess” and the list of proposed measures were presented and discussed with the stakeholders.

A regular meeting of the interagency working group on mudflow risk management was held on June 29.

On June 16 a training-workshop on “Strategic Communication Plan for National Adaptation Planning Processes” was held in Yerevan.

On the occasion of the World Environment Day, a festive event was organized for schoolchildren on June 6 in the frame of Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project. The event, held at the Dzoraghbyur Green Learning Center, was aimed at raising awareness on climate change related issues among schoolchildren.

On February 4-6, Aghveran hosted “Adapting to climate change: from idea to results” a training session aimed at schoolchildren and teachers that participated in the final of “Adapt to climate change” school contest organized in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project.

During the workshop held on December 9, 2021 the results of the "Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA) for Armenia’s Agriculture Sector" analysis conducted within the framework of the UNDP-GCF "Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan" (NAP) program were presented.

A series of training sessions aimed at media students and faculty members of state universities and specialized educational institutions have been launched in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project.

From October 25-29, two three-day training sessions on "Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture and Water Resources Management" were held for the specialists of the RA Ministry of Economy Department of Agricultural Extension, Innovation and Monitoring.

On October 25-28, two trainings on "Impact of Climate Change on Landslides and Landslide Management in Communities" were held for the representatives of vulnerable communities of Tavush region. The event was organized in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project in cooperation with Tavush Regional Administration.

According to Paragraph 11 of Article 7 of Paris Agreement, RA Ministry of Environment has officially submitted the first RA National Adaptation Plan to the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

On October 8, a seminar on "Climate change vulnerability and adaptation in Armenia’s agriculture sector" was held for students of the Anton Kochinyan Agricultural College of the Armenia’s National Agrarian University.

“Climate Change Adaptation in Armenia: Challenges and Opportunities” Expo-Forum, organized in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Project, took place on May 14.  Around 120 representatives of various sectors participated in thematic panel discussions on issues related to climate change adaptation, observing the impact of climate change on the country's economy, in particular the selected six target sectors.

On April 27, the modernization of irrigation norms in the context of climate change and development of  a water sector adaptation plan were discussed during a workshop held in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project.

The international commitments of Armenia in the context of climate change, results of the 4th National Communication of Armenia to the UNFCCC were presented, with the emphasis of the region’s prospects for low carbon development

Climate change  national policy and programs, vulnerabilities, and adaptation related issues as well as awareness raising opportunities were discussed  with  Shirak  Regional Administration, education institutions and civil society representatives on April 20, during a regional visit of UNDP climate change program and Ministry of Environment.

"UAV uses in environmental monitoring", a series of two-day trainings, took place from March 9-18 in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project. The events were organized in collaboration with UNDP-RTF “Increase Resilience of Armenia to Climate Change through Modernization of Armenia’s Hydro-meteorological Service” project and Ministry of Environment “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center” (MoE HMC).

Preliminary results of "Detailed Methodology for Modernization of Irrigation Norms for Selected Crops of Ararat Valley", a study conducted within UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project, were presented during the seminar held on December 28.

“Reporting on Climate Change by Mass Media”, a two-day media training aimed at journalists and media content specialists covering environmental, public, economic and other subjects, was held on December 22-23.

"Assessment and forecast of water resources vulnerability and evapotranspiration based on satellite remote sensing data" seminar took place on December 18.

“Climate Change Risks, Vulnerabilities, Impacts, and Adaptation: Agriculture and Water sectors in Armenia”, a 3-day webinar was held from December 14-16.

A tree-planting event paired with educational talks on climate change risks, vulnerabilities, impacts as well as climate change adaptation practices was organized on October 15 in the frame on Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan UNDP-GCF Project.

Within the framework of “Climate Box: Climate Change Education and Awareness Project”, a three-year regional initiative implemented locally by UNDP in Armenia, two more training sessions were organized for teachers of secondary schools and colleges in August-September of 2020.

The assessment was implemented by EV Consulting CJSC, in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project.

Results of the “Water resources management under climate change conditions: legal, institutional, vulnerability assessment and adaptation gaps and barriers” study were summarized during a webinar held on June 4.

The first meeting of the interdepartmental working group on mudflow risk management took place on March 6.

On January 16, a workshop on “Climate smart agriculture and climate change adaptation in Armenia” was held to discuss together with stakeholders the vulnerability of the sector towards climate change, possible mitigation and adaptation measures, present the scope of agricultural and climate change assessment being implemented by Center for Agribusiness and Rural Development (CARD) Foundation in the frame of UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) project, as well as provide an overview of concept policies and practices of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) employed in the USA.  The event was organized by UNDP in Armenia in the frame of UNDP-GCF NAP project, CARD Foundation and Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (Cornell CALS).

“Green skills for youth” workshop gathers young inhabitants of Lori region to discuss climate change challenges in Armenia and around the globe

On November 8 in Dilijan “EcoThon Tavush” was organized.

On September 26, 2019, UNDP-GCF project, together with the Ministry of Environment, held a workshop in Yerevan Marriott hotel to present main guidelines and best practices of National Adaptation Plan development as well as to discuss Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan preparation process.

On July 18-19, 2019, the training workshop took place in Aghveran to enhance gender dimension of the climate change area in the frames of UNDP-GCF “National Adaptation Plan to Advance Medium and Long-Term Adaptation Planning in Armenia” and “De-Risking and Scaling up Investment in Energy Efficient Building Retrofits” Projects.

On February 13, 2019, the UNDP-GCF project inception workshop took place in Ani hotel in Yerevan to present the main objectives and planned activities, as well as consult with national partners and international organizations supporting Armenia in meeting its sustainable development objectives.

Project Board Meeting of the “De-risking and Scaling-up Investment in Energy Efficient Building Retrofits” Project, funded by Green Climate fund (GCF) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Armenia under overall coordination of Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia, took place on 12 September 2018. The co-chairs of the meeting were Mr. E. Grigoryan, Minister of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia and Mr. D. Mariyasin, UNDP Resident Representative a.i. Six out of nine Project Board members, as well as Project team and International Technical Consultant attended the meeting. Project Board updated composition and Annual Work plan for 2018 were discussed and approved. Mr. V. Jalalyan, Project Manager presented the Project objectives, components, outcomes, activities implemented during the reporting period, current issues and timeline for planned activities. Ms. M. Olshanskaya, Project International Technical Consultant reflected the possible options of GCF funding schemes aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in public and multi-apartment buildings in Armenia, as well as highlighted the current issues and actions to overcome them.
